Windmill Hill Primary school will be a two form entry primary school with nurseries catering for children from 2 years of age. We have planned an exciting and inspiring curriculum that will take full advantage of the doorstep access to fields, lakes, woodlands, streams and farms.
At Windmill Hill every child will be taught by a teacher with specific experience and qualifications linked to the outdoor classroom. This means that whilst there will be a rigorous focus on the core skills of English and Maths we will be able to continuously link learning to the out
door classroom making it meaningful, engaging and inspiring. The children will also safely learn a variety of skills and the use of tools and equipment. For example, fire craft, shelter building and survival skills. Their science work will include work with local farms and animals, and sports such as sailing, swimming and climbing will be taught in addition to the more traditional school sports.
We plan that all children will have access to the exciting curriculum and will also encourage them to gain qualifications where ever possible within sports, science or the outdoors. Examples would be RYA Level 1 sailing or the John Muir Award.
Opening of Windmill Primary is expected from 2023
