The trust offers many opportunities for high quality professional development due to the wide range of expertise available to draw upon. Action research carried out in coaching triads across partner schools is also key to school improvement. The regular opportunity to teach and observe in each other’s schools is often a new experience to many long serving teachers.
The opportunity for staff to be retained within the MAT is a significant benefit and is likely to serve as a way of offering staff career progression and/or professional challenge without the need to leave our employment. As an example a middle leader in one school looking to progress would currently need to apply elsewhere for a job and we would lose the skills we have invested so much time in developing. In working across the MAT this middle leader’s skills would not be lost.
